Spotlight #26: Carl Tart, Jr. Becomes the University's first ever homecoming king

Congratulations are in order for our very own Carl Tart, Jr., who was recently crowned as the first ever Homecoming King for the University of Mississippi.

Watch the historic announcement below:

Students at the university decided to add "Homecoming King" last year. Their decision went into effect this year; and Carl was the first ever winner—the night's only black student winner, and the only winner from a National Pan Hellenic Council Organization.

Carl ran a remarkable campaign, accomplishing what, historically, has been a difficult feat for black students at the university of Mississippi: overcoming the oft-criticized network of Historically White Greek Letter Organizations that dominate so many elements of campus life.

The Eta Beta Chapter congratulates Carl, who joins a long list of our membership making note on campus—from campus athletics to Campus Hall of Fame to university faculty and staff, and more.
